the morning cloudy & appearances for rain favorable though it cleared up early & was very pleasant the remainder of the day received a letter from corprl McFarlin from Davids Island N.C. harbor & to which I written an answer & directed it to his home Baltimore I also written several other letters to different persons.

this morning pleasant Inspection of this co at nine a.m. by Lieut Beau Inspection of Quarters by the field & staff. at 10 a.m. during the forenoon company "I" came from Fort Mott while rambling around the camp in the afternoon I met with a Mr Pierson from the city of Washington who was well acquainted with my folks.
