Dear Sir:

During the month of January the force of the Department of Ethnology consisted of Miss. Latham, Mr. Sweeny, and Mr. Clayton.

Miss Latham was absent 9 days on account of sickness. The remainder of the time she was engaged in copying Ethnological Catalogue, Vol. 10., attending to the correspondence, pictures, and other literary matters.
Mr. Sweeny was engaged in mounting objects in the N. E. Court.
Mr. Clayton was busy with the new collections constantly coming in.

During the month I made a
