March 26, 1908

While observing the object suspected to be of the nature of a Nova, I found a new variable star first noticed to be brighter than normal on B 31470. See p. 10. This object is called v3 in the preceding page.

It occurred to me that there were probably more variable stars in the region which is a loose cluster, so I superposed B 31948 on B 27154 and in less than 15 minutes, I marked at least 15 objects showing marked variation. Most of the objects are brighter on 31948 than on 27154. Can it be defective?

This is N.G.C. 6475, which is probably rich in variables. Prof. Bailey was consulted and asked if he has examined it or is going to. He says he has no claim on it, and does not expect to examine it.

Only prismatic comparisons!
