I have the honor to submit the following report of the Department of Ethnology for October and November 1886. During these months the force in this department was the same as formerly. At the end of November Paymaster E. B. Webster having been ordered to California, severed his connection here and we were very sorry to lose his agreeable company. 

The two large and exceedingly valuable collections from different parts of the world were received and entered, one from Lt. E.H. Taunt, U.S.N. collected on the Congo, the other from Sgt. I. Applegate of the Signal Corps U.S.A. collected
