270 Park Avenue
New York

Dear Mrs. Carolan,-

Pursuant to the conversation it was my privilege to have with you this morning, I am sending you below descriptions and prices of the works of art the purchase of which you are considering.

I understand that you hope to be able to take a decision around the 1st of June, and that you will then let us know. May I add that it would be a great pride for us to see these beautiful and most unique examples of French 18th century art in the possession of an amateur of such refined taste.

NY1412/P8244.- A suite of four marvelous tapestries woven in silver thread of the Royal Manufacture of Beauvais, executed at the end of the 17th century, under the direction of Behagle after the drawings of Berain, for Louis of Bourbon, Conte of Toulouse, Admiral of France.
They represent: 1.- Amphtrite surrounded by cupids
2.- Venus accompanied by the gods of the Sea
3.- Eurus, god of the tempest
4.- Thetis.

They bear the signature "Behagle", and two of them the mention "Berain In". From the collection of Mme la Baronne Th. de Grelle-Rogier, daughter of the former Belgian Ambassador at Petrograd and sister of the Belgian Ambassador at Copenhagen. Granddaughter of Ch. Rogier, member of the Belgian Provisional Government of 1830, and many times Minister to the King.
