[[preprinted]] SAMUEL MATHER
WESTERN RESERVE BLDG.
CLEVELAND, O. [[/preprinted]]

July 17, 1922.

Jacques Seligmann, Esq.,
705 Fifth Avenue,
New York City.

Gentlemen:

I am very sorry to advise you that upon opening the case delivered by the American Railway Express, we found the statuette in bronze, by Jean de Bologne, had its head broken off, and discovered it lying loose in the package. Just when, and how, this happened, of course I do not know: but I am writing to advise Mr. Jacques Seligmann, in Paris, of it.

Very truly yours,
