January 13, 1914.

Mr. Jacques Seligmann,
705 Fifth Ave., New York City.

My dear Mr. Seligmann:-

I have your two letters of December 19th and January 10th, - the first describing so beautifully the Limoges plate, and the second in which you refer to my letter of December 30th.

I am entirely convinced of its beauty, but I have not yet reached the stage of the collector's art that I feel myself justified in buying such valuable articles, having in mind other demands upon my purse, not only of taste but of duty. I am indebted to you for so kindly having given me the opportunity of enjoying it for so long a time.

The plate was placed in the hands of the American Express Company yesterday, and I shall be anxious to know, of course, that it will arrive safely.

Yours truly
