1. HOW HAS THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING JUNE 30, 1895, COMPARED WITH THE PREVIOUS YEAR, AS FAR AS (1) THE NUMBER OF ACCESSIONS AND (2) THEIR SCIENTIFIC VALUE AR CONCERNED?

The accessions for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1895 compare very favorably with those of former years. The closing of the Chicago Exposition and the additions to our material incidental therto gave as many new specimens as could will be taken care of. The plan of the curator to substitute for the former desultory collecting a systematic filling of lacunae was commenced and a comprehensive index of all the ethnological specimens collected in fifty begun with a view to intelligent research. This index includes
1. Catalogue number
2. Name of object, common and native
3. Structure & function of object
4. Place and tribe.
