They were about 80 feet up in the air I could distinguish them by the strong direct flight the notes and the reddish breasts-
Heard several Meadowlarks singing early this morning both across the river. I hear them every morning now. Sometimes several sing at once.
Sept.21, Thursday 
This morning [[when?]] I was out back of the barn an Indigo Bunting flew up in

the air and as before commenced to sing with a sharp [[underline]] spit [[/underline]] before and as it turned downward. This afternoon as I looked out of the window I saw exactly the same thing . I think that this is the same bird that I heard before-
Sept.22, Friday
Heard a Meadowlark sing while it was raining this morning. It sang once. It was down in the pasture.
