Today it is snowing quite hard and the wind is blowing from the Southwest.  When I came home from school at noon I went out to the barn and on my way back saw the Chicadee at the suet in the maple.  The wind came sweeping in and caught his long tail and

blew it up till it nearly touched his head and blew his wings from his body and ruffled up his feathers.  I felt sorry for him the wind was so cold and keen.  He kept silent and ate the suet.  He got pieces off by picking and wrenching at it.  The suet will help keep him warm.  After dinner I mixed a plateful of bread crumbs
