When flying he gave a note like [[underline]] kit kit kit kit [[/underline]]. At last he disappeared. I hunted all over but could not find him. It was very slushy and just as I had gone [[end page]] [[start page]] 83. away there he was again.Went over in J. Hacketts grove. I saw a female [[good guess?]]Downy woodpecker on a limb. I watched it a while. A Red-Head flew up just then and the Downy was afraid and flew away. These woods were alive with birds. Some Redpolls were feeding down on a slope.
