Mr. Henry Oothout Milliken
4 East 39th street
New York

Dear Mr. Milliken,-

I am very sorry to have missed your visit when you called this morning.

Thank you very much for the letter of introduction that you have given me. As you recommended, I will only use them if I cannot approach the people they are addressed to by some other channel.

How sad it is that you have to leave town to-morrow morning, thus making it impossible for me to see you! Upon my return, I will not fail to call you up, and give you the result of my pioneer's task.

With renewed thanks for your courtesy and best wishes for a happy New Year, pray believe me,
Sincerely yours,
