Dr. Frederick D. Patterson, President
Tuskegee Institute
Tuskegee Institute, Alabama

Dear Dr. Patterson:

As former president of the Florida Summer School Teachers who attended Tuskegee under your dynamic leadership, I have been authorized to extend to you our deepest regret that Tuskegee is losing you as its president.

It is quite gratifying to note, however, that you have been selected to succeed Dr. Tobias as Director of the Phelps-Stokes Fund. In this new service, we are sure you will succeed equally as well as you have done at Tuskegee Institute.

Please be assured that the entire Florida Delegation will mourn your leaving our school even though you will be rendering a larger service to humanity in your next work.

Since we feel that our great Creator has guided you in accepting this great task with the Phelps-Stokes Fund, we shall submit to his will most reluctantly. Your sound judgment and power to achieve will surely bring forth rich blessings to you and the people you are to serve.

May God be with you in all of your new undertakings.

Very truly yours,
