Dr. F. D. Patterson, President
Tuskegee Institute
Tuskegee, Alabama

Dear Dr. Patterson:

I see in the press that you are resigning as President of Tuskegee and will soon serve as Educational Director of the Phelp-Stokes Fund with offices in New York. I am sure that this new position will provide you with a greater field of service. However, from a selfish standpoint, I hate to see you leave the south. Your work in the improvement of race relations I feel is outstanding. I have missed seeing you very much this last year on the Red Cross Board of Governors.

With all good wishes for success and the kindest regards, I am

Sincerely yours,
