[[preprinted]] The Chase National Bank OF THE CITY OF NEW YORK NEW YORK 15, N. Y. FRANK M. TOTTON VICE PRESIDENT [[preprinted]] March 12, 1953 Dear Fred, The morning paper gave me quite a surprise in the announcement of your impending change. This is a great break for Phelps Stokes but it is mighty tough luck for Tuskegee. You have been such a tower of strength that they will find it difficult to secure a successor who will measure up to you in any way. I suppose it will be a welcome relief to you to change seats and be in the position of giving out money instead of soliciting it. You have certainly become a capitalist over night. With best wishes to you for continuing good health and happiness in your notable career, I am Sincerely yours, [[signature]] Frank [[signature]] Dr. Frederick D.
