thus far been in storage. One collection of shell-eep material, when ultimately brought together, will form an extensive and instructive series. The large case at the west end of the hall should be prepared for their reception.

The Wheeler collection of Californian relics has now been placed in proper order in divisions 1 to 4 of the large wall-case to the left of the hall - door. Nothing is wanting but the printed labels, which, I hope, will soon be furnished. This collection embraces all specimens sent by Capt. Wheeler, excepting some of the large mortars and pots, which have been left in their former places.

My requisition for trays should be attended to, or else our work of re-arranging will suffer delay.

The reading of the proof of my work on prehistoric fishing has taken up much of my time. There are now 273 pages electrotyped. The pagination will reach considerably beyond 300.
