MRS. MARY F. HERRIFORD

Miss Woods was chosen as primary teacher in the public schools of Mount Vernon, Indiana, but owing to a much needed rest remained at her home the entire year, giving a few instructions privately.

The year following she was chosen for positions in the schools of Liberty, Missouri, and Chicakasha, Indian Territory. Desiring to remain in her native State, the position in the former was accepted. While teaching at Liberty Miss Woods was married to Joe E. Herriford, principle of Garrison School, located at Chillicothe, Missouri,

Resigning her position shortly after marriage, and being no longer actively engaged in school work, Mrs. Herriford devotes her energies to assisting her husband in his regalia and supply, also much of her time is given to club work and the work of fraternal organizations. She has already been chosen as leader for two local organizations.

Mrs. Herriford is very interested in work of the elevation of humanity and in the prosperity and growth of her Alma Mater, Lincoln Institute, which she regards as a source from which the streams of knowledge must flow to the Negroes of this State and other States, lifting them up from the dust.
