low the surface, and a specimen of shell-marl; 144 specimens.  Two boxes containing archaeological specimens, received from W. M. Linney, Harrodsburgh, Kentucky, for examination, were opened; but they contained nothing of an unusual character, excepting 3 specimens, which are being cast.

I have spent a part of the time in investigations bearing upon future literary works.
