[[underlined]] L. C. Johnson, U.S. Geologic.Survey. [[/underlined]]---Chips and flakes, a cutting-tool (?), and fragments of pottery from Chimney Rocks quarry, 1 1-2 mile southwest of Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida; also flakes, rude implements, arrow-heads and a perforator from Preston's Sink, 3 1-2 miles north of Waldo, Alachua County, Florida, and one half of a drilled ceremonial weapon from Itawamba County, Mississippi. 63 specimens for exhibition, 4 fragments for storage.

[[underlined]] Dr. E. C. Black, Wheatland, Knox County, Indiana. [[/underlined]]---A leaf-shaped implement, arrow-heads, celts, a grooved axe, and a rude pierced tablet, all from Wheatland. 9 specimens for exhibition.

[[underlined]] L.C. Johnson, U.S. Geologic. Survey. [[/underlined]]---A shallow stone mortar from Allenton, Wilcox County, Alabama.

The archaeological specimens collected by the Bureau of Ethnology during the fiscal year 1884-5 were transferred to this Department July 27th.

The chief work during this month consisted in the assorting, according to localities, of a number of collections previously received from the Bureau of Ethnology, and in labeling the special collections (mostly derived from the same source) mentioned in the preceding report.
