smoothing pottery, a small paint-muller, an anvil-stone of cylindrical form, a conical stone pipe, a pierced stone disc, 2 shell ornaments, 7 quartz crystals, a piece of unworked turquoise, a clay vessel, 4 fragments of pottery, 4 fragments of stone implements, and 18 natural formations.---51 specimens for exhibition, 24 for storage.

[[underline]]Accession 17191.[[/underline]]

[[underline]]Edward D. Hicks, Nashville, Tennessee.[[/underline]]---A photograph representing 3 large chipped flint objects of peculiar character. They are similar to certain specimens in the Peabody Museum at Cambridge, Massachusetts, copies of which are in the National Museum. The undersigned Curator has asked Mr. Hicks by letter to send these remarkable specimens for examination and reproduction to the National Museum.

The following collections received from the Bureau of Ethnology have been placed on exhibition:--

Collection from "Citico Mound" on the farm of Mr. McSpadden.  J. W. Emmert.

The shelving of a case is being prepared for the reception of the collection from Chiriqui sent by Mr. J. A. McNiel. It will be placed on exhibition in the course of this month.

The Assistant was occupied most of the time in assorting and arranging the mound collections referred to in this report.
