[[/underlined]] _ Collection from a mound in Stoddard County: A quartzite celt with expanding cutting-edge, chipped and afterward polished, a large flint digging-tool, a large carved stone pipe (calumet-pipe), eight clay vessels and two fragments of pottery (birds heads). A very good collection.

[[underlined]] H. W. Turner, U. S. Geological Survey. [[/underlined]] _ A stone mortar from auriferous gravel on the north side of American River, near Folsom Sacramento County, California.  This mortar is of elegant form, and differs from any in the collection.
