DR. A. G. Richmond, (Canajoharie, N.Y.) [[strikethrough]]Dec. 15/88.[[/strikethrough]]

Has one of the objects described. It is the only one he has ever seen. Is very sure that they are scarce in the interior. This one could not have been used in making soapstone dishes, as there is no material of that nature there; neither could it have been used for digging out canoes, as it was found six miles from navigable water. When found the form of a withe was visible, but so decayed that it could not be saved. Found where it was, he should call it an agricultural tool of war-fare. Material is black chert. [[strikethrough]]--sends photograph. Also one of this latest Fall finds of perforated clam shells, combs, harpoon, blunt tools, &c.[[/strikethrough]]
