The usual gray muck, with good gray loess, iron tubes & all, but no fossils, appear 1/3 way up - Above this yellow. [[underline]] Cut 50 [[/underline]] Cut j. is similar - facing E. - Not quite as prominent. [[underline]] Cut 51 [[/underline]] Cut h. is practically all yellow loess. Shows little bit of gray below. Cut 52 Cut l. is 4-6 ft mostly yellow but seems to show gray below - faces E. [[underline]] Cut 53 [[/underline]] [[underline]]Cut m[[/underline]] - shows gray loess below yellow On N. line of sec. 13-79-40 to yellow loess exposures. See map. [[underline]] Cut 54 [[/underline]] [[underline]] Cut n. [[/underline]] - is on a another reworked slope, facing E. Gray loess is exposed for 1/2 way (5 ft. vertically) up the slope & the rest is granular yellow loess (see sample) The gray loess has many iron tubes, quite a lot of [[end page]] [[start page]] [[line all down left side of page]] concretions [[insertion]] nodules [[/insertion]] & many shells. The shells run up slope. Below Lynmae [[bar over ae]] is more common, & I found one Carychium. Uppermost pocket of slope has Suc. avara, Pyram. striatella & shimekii, [[insertion]] Vallonia gracilicosta [[/insertion]], Pupa [[decova?]] & more Suc. ovalis (oblique). Just such arrangement in modern forms. [[underline]] Cut 55 [[/underline]] - Cut o shows yellow loess above & along slope quite a bit of gray with talus & nodules - no shells Drift at foot of slope.
