b. The oxidized layer is 2-4 in wide, irregular & sharply separating the two loesses.
c. The gray loess showed fragments of shells (one looked like Pol. [[muthilista?]]) but could [[?]] [[?]].  Took sample. It has brown streaks in it, no tubes, but some [[?]], [[[strikethrough]] no [[/strikethrough]] some nodules.  Almost 1 ft. exposed.

Two cuts near SE cor. sec. 25-79-39 are at edge of bench & show yellow loess.

[[underlined]] Cut 77 [[/underlined]] - { E. of it corn burnt on N. side of road only. more exposed to SW winds)
Cut at NW, corner of sec. 36-79-39 shows gray loess, with strongly oxidized layer & plates of calcareous nodules on top, running somewhat up slope 
Above, the loess in bluish [[insertion]] ^ (gray)[[/insertion]] below, yellow above. The cut shows mostly in little gutter along road.

[[insertion]] [[underlined]] Cut 78 [[/underlined]] [[/insertion]] On N 1/2 of NW 1/4 - 35-79-39, a low cut runs up hill (faces E) & is mostly overgrown) (3-4 ft) It shows gray loess, with strong oxidized layer on top, & bank on side shows yellow loess another with gray.
