[[underline]] Cut 9 [[/underline]] The slope of same ridge facing E. shows drift & yellow loess.  All along from corner N. to turn in road (1/4 mi) the drift appears in bank on E side. The rather long hill facing W. in
[[insertion]] Cut 10 [[/insertion]]
SE 1/4 SW. 1/4 sec. 10-80-36 shows drift, with an upper redder "[[ferretto?]]" (clayey) a little more than half way up hill, yes nearly to top.
Then a layer of gray loess, resting on oxidized "[[ferretto?]]".
This is not very clear excepting at line of contact with [[ferretto?]]  On top of hill (& most on way in upper half) is yellow. loess.
Top of hill E. = 1690!
A few small scrub oaks appear just above bank of fossiliferous yellow loess on top of slope.
The layer that appears something like blue loess is [[chocolate?]] below, and runs quite a way up hill. Its

upper part is gray & shows iron tubes. 
The yellow loess is found only on very top & probably is not over 3 ft. thick in thickest place. It has many small nodules. At time of leaving 1695 was reading on top of this hill in road.

[[insertion]] Cut 11 [[/insertion]] On E. slope of same ridge drift appears below.

[[insertion]] Cut. 12 [[/insertion]] In S.E 1/4 11-80-36 a hill (top = 1704), rather long, shows red clayey [[ferretto?]] & above is yellow loess with some nodules. Saw no fossils.  Bottom at sec. [[insertion]] ^ SE. cor. 11. [[/insertion]] cor. W. = 1659
[[insertion]] Cut 13 [[/insertion]] In SE SW 12-80-36 a hill reading 1757. shows on face to W. Kansan drift with rusty bands above, a distinct blue loess with iron tubes, & this passes by oxidized band into yellow loess
