Tonight the old cat caught the female Martin after dark. She must have  climbed [pov]. I wonder if he will leave.

June 6, Wednesday.
This morning I looked at that martin again Back dusky, some of the feathers tipped with Blueblack, inner tail feathers dusky, outer black- Primaries black, greater wing coverts blue-black.
Rest of wing dusky; 
crown blueblack.
whitish spot on forehead. Chin whitish
throat grayish brown.

breast and belly white, each feather centered with dusky tail notched- feet weak. wings extend nearly to end of tail, bill wide, large gape.
Spread of wings / 6 inches
length of wing 7 1/2 inches.
length of body 6 3/4 inches.
length of leg 2 inches
gape 1 3/8 inches
width of bill at base 1 inch
length of bill 7/16 inch
The male was around calling
Art Rudy showed me a Vesper Sparrow nest with 4 eggs in it. He called it a ground-bird's nest.
