A flock of 5 Cedar Waxwings flew over. Started back. saw a Sharp-shinned Hawk. At sight of it all the birds became silent. They did not begin until it had been gone for some time.
Then we went home.

This afternoon I saw a Sharp-shinned Hawk make a sudden dash into Blachley's chicken yard. It did not get any thing.

Saw 3 or 4 Junco's in Mrs. Russels evergreen.

They were a very welcome sight.

September 29, Saturday.
This morning before breakfast I went down in the fields. Saw a Bronzed Grackle by H. Smiths It sang. Went on. There were 4 meadowlarks in an oak tree in Fiskes pasture
Saw some Horned Larks flying around. Could not determine the species. probaby Prairie. Heard some White-throated Sparrows sing. Saw an immature one. It had duller white on
