of water.  I approached as closely as I could and it staid still for about 5 minutes.  I threw a piece of dirt at it and it flew out of the water which was two or three inches deep and lit on land and ran away into a corn shock.  It ran with its head very high.  It began to rain and I went home.

It has been raining for two days.  This morning there was a lull.  Saw some Juncoes over by

Mrs. Russels.  They roost in the Norway Spruces.  They are feeding along the fences and in the berry patches.

Saw a Bluejay fly to roost in Mrs. Russels trees at dusk.

This Evening after sunset I saw a Male Downy Woodpecker over by Trumbles hunting for food.  It did not appear to be hurried but
