Hawk flew over.  It was sailing as it neared the hill it dropped down rapidly and lit in a tree.  I followed.  It was in a dead tree with its back towards me.  I paused 25 or 30 rods away and looked at it with the glass.  Its back was brownish with yellow white markings.  It looked at me over its shoulder.  The head had a dark patch around the eye.  It shook itself and then flew around the corner
