I am much interested in your account of the long distance telephone talk with Truman about F.P. matters.  It is additional evidence of the wisdom of selling our holdings.  I too, am glad the responsibility is ended.

My reason for not subscribing to the McMillan Memorial fund before my departure was to wait until more prominent men had set the pace, or, until some time when the work might drag.  I will cheerfully give $500.00 and will be obliged if you will kindly put my name down for that sum.

Your full letter telling of  Anna's condition is disappointing as I had hoped she would regain her strength
