4.  INDICATE BRIEFLY THE PRESENT CONDITION OF THE EXHIBITION SERIES AND THE STUDY SERIES, IN YOUR DEPARTMENT.

The exhibition series of the collections of Oriental Antiquities and religious ceremonials is installed in the four alcoves to the East and West of the Rotunda in the following manner:-

Northeast alcove contains the Egyptian collection, consisting of casts and busts ranged around the walls, four cases and a column with wing-frames, and besides the mosaic from Carthage, the collection of Assyrian seals and the collection of coins and gems. 

Southeast alcove, measuring 26 by 25 feet, contains the Assyro-Bablyonian collection, consisting of casts on the walls, the Temple Tower, statues, one case, a column with wing-frames, besides the serpent column of Delphi and the collections of Bibles and musical instruments.

On the upper screens of both alcoves the casts of the reliefs of the obelisk from Constantinople an the Hittite casts are placed. 

Northwest alcove, contains the Jewish, Mohammedan two Graeco-Roman objects arranged in the cases around the walls and eight floor cases, supplemented by two columns of wing-frames.

Southwest alcove, contains the objects of Brahmanism, Buddhism and Shintoism in the wall cases and three floor cases. 

The study series is preserved in two storage bases.
