The Curator has also made a new study of the Kangaroo rats ([[underlined]] Dipodomys [[/underlined]]) resulting in the establishment of two species [[underlined]] D. Phillipsii [[/underlined]] (Gray) and [[underlined]] D. agilis [[/underlined]] Gambel, the former having four toes on the hind foot and the latter, five.

The usual amount of work has been done in the [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] identification of specimens sent to the Museum for that purpose[[strikethrough]] s [[/strikethrough]] by persons in different parts of the country. [[paragraph symbol]] Numerous requests for technical information have been received and responded to.  Some information was given Dr. G.E. Dobson relative to the [[strikethrough]] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] dentition and cranial characters of [[underlined]] Sorex Hoyi [[/underlined]] [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] [[underlined]] S. Crawfordi [[/underlined]] and [[underlined]] S. evotis [[/underlined]].  The Curator has been in correspondence with Mr. A.E. Brown, Supt. of the Philadelphia Zoological Gardens, relative to the specific distinction of the smaller American deer, and with Dr. E.C. Spitzka relative to the commonest species of dolphin to be met with on the Atlantic
