as far as in his power.  A letter was sent to Mr. W. Harvey Brown regarding the collection of mammals in South Africa.  Mr. G. A. Boardman expressed his intention to incite certain correspondents in Florida to procure a mountable skin of the black wolf of that region for the Museum.  In this connection it may be stated that [[strikethrough] [[?]] [[/strikethrough]] he presented an imperfect skin of this animal to the establishment.

The proofs of the Report of the Department for 1888 were read by the Curator during the month.  A report of the proceedings of the Committee on Maps was prepared by the Curator
