Kobe to discharge cargo. Weather cool, not humid like ashore. Sky partly overcast. [[circled]] 3 [[/circled]] During the night we [[strikethrough]] bi [[/strikethrough]] encountered a severe thunder storm. At daybreak we passed thru the narrow straits of Shrinouoseki [[strike]] into the [[/strike]] and out of the Inland sea of Japan. Weather misty but sea smooth. Just after lunch we had a heavy thunder shower in which the rear smoke stack was struck + great patches several feet square of paint stripped off the rear side. Reached Nagosaki at 5 P.M. + moved slowly up the long narrow entrance. The bay is beautifully hilly + wooded with islets at the entrance. There is little sign of habitation until you get well up the bay to Nagasaki itself. [[strikethrough]] At the [[/strikethrough]]
