our camp.  The bilobed leaved tree so common below Chen Khan is now in blossom here in abundance.  It has large [[strikethrough]] re [[/strikethrough]] white fragrant flowers in shape like some orchids [[strikethrough]] but [[/strikethrough]] and is not a member of the Leguminosae as I had thought.  After climbing thru a pass to an altitude of about 6000 feet we skirted the mountain side to Ma-li-ling where we camped at 5000 feet apparently.  The village is located on the mountainside with a deep narrow valley below it.  The tree growth is tropical without pines & only a few oaks & alders.  The boundary was crossed two hours out of Ma-li-pa but no masonry monuments or mark was seen on the road.
