During the night we had a heavy rain with wind which flooded our camp.  This is the first shower for several weeks here as the road was heavy with dust when we arrived.  The whole region here is granite but exposed rocks are rare except along stream cuts.  The road is paved with granite some 5 feet wide.  The forest is made up of live oaks & laurels, one of which [[strikethrough]] had [[/strikethrough]] produces a large rough & peach pit nut with an olive exterior.  Acorns are the most abundant nut however.  Rhododendrons are not rare, the large flowered carmine one is now in
