kept us from leaving until 9 A.M. Rain continued & mist was encountered, after climbing out of the forest we had a long descent thru cleared grassy hills down to the Shweli which we could see winding thru the valley far below. Villages with groups of shade trees about them could be seen dotting the plain. To the north on the Salween divide patches of snow could be seen on some high peaks much to my surprise. This is the 11,000 foot [[strikethrough]]peak of[[/strikethrough]] mtns of Davis map I have no doubt. Our camp was cold at night at 7,000 & 11,000 ft. would hold snow at this season. It has now rained daily for 7 days which is quite a good performance for this time of year. I have no doubt this is the beginning of the rains At 11 A.M. we crossed the chain suspension bridge across the Shweli River.
