strongly. The rock formation is lime & the spring has a white deposit of gypsum about it with some sulphur on the surface. It is apparently a [[strikethrough]] sulphur [[/strikethrough]] lime spring with some [[strikethrough]] lime [[/strikethrough]] sulphur infused.
Several stone bath houses [[strikethrough]] for [[strikethrough]] one for ♂ & other ♀s have been erected nearby & water led thru them. Only 2 Chinese were bathing but in the winter great numbers come here & last winter [[strikethrough]] these [[/strikethrough]] some thatch house took fire & burned up some of the bathers at night. We ascended the steep hill to the plateau where alders pines & bushes give cover to birds & animals. Here we met the boys with the 4 pointers & our guns. With the dogs we marched abrest [[sic]] thru the fern cover. The first bird met was a painted quail which the dog pointed well but I missed the shot. Later a ♀ pheasant was flushed by trailing of the dogs but no one shot as no pheasant are shot in the breeding season
