Teng-yueh District

The exposed rock surfaces are not numerous most of the hills & ranges are soil covered & grass clad.
Soil where exposed on hills & plains bright red clay except on paddy fields where it is whitish grey due to humans fertilizers. Granite underlies most of the region & is exposed on rice beds. South & below T-y there is a great lava sheet with rough scoria, a surface covering a great area. There is lava covering much of the country from Hui yao northward. Limestone was seen extensively at Hui yao & at Wa-tien in Salween Range. Hot springs lime & sulphurous occur at two places near Teng yeh
