2 contained a large granite ball [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] which is so large that it cannot be extracted & was cut out from the opening in the mouth.  The guide showed me several of these balls in open mouthed animal sculptor in various temples.
The City of the Dead is a peculiar institution situated outside the city wall & [[strikethrough]] under the [[/strikethrough]] in sight of the flowery Pagoda which is inside the City.  There are some 500 rooms where coffins containing the dead [[strikethrough]] were [[/strikethrough]] may be deposited until a grave is built or selected.  To these stalls the mourners come at intervals to whorship & often supply elaborate dishes of food for the spirit of the departed such as a regular dinner of 10 or 20 courses.
