The main hall consisted of a bare hall with a few prayer mats on the stone floor.  Facing the Canton Bund is the immense court of the Swatow Guild Hall.  This [[strikethrough]] is a [[/strikethrough]] has granite [[strikethrough]]st[[/strikethrough]] columns & great halls with ancestral tablets.  Soldiers with their rifles were quartered here as they were in most all of the temples visited in Canton.  The government has at this time a large garrison of troops in Canton to suppress rebellions.  In the garden of the hall was an artificial mountain made of pieces of grey limestone held together by mortar & holding in some of the crests & cliffs miniature temples.  I saw a few fish tail palms, yew & [[strikethrough]] ceda [[/strikethrough]] bamboo trees in
