Dear François Gerard:

Edna would be extremely thankful to you if you could send us the three published books by Zervos on Picasso, the ***newly-published book on Vuillard, and a very good book on Bonnard, through the debit of my account.

I have been recently to Pierre Matisse (the son) (ah! ah!), where two paintings by Marchand were hanging. I was extremely interested because I thought, "Here is our man", as I found his paintings beautiful and much less sad than they were years ago, with color improved and composition much improved.

I sent Germain right away to have a look at them. His answer is that he would like to see photographs of [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] ^[[other]] paintings by Marchand, as he was not as enthusiastic about them as I was upon viewing the paintings hanging at Matisse, the son.
