30th June 1934. A beautiful day, wind southerly, but considerable mist on mountains, which mainly spoiled view. Climbed Carntual, 3,414 ft., via Caher, 3,200 ft., starting from NE corner of Lough Acoose & keeping along southern edge of Coomloughra to Caher.
Everything dried up above 1,200 feet & except for clouds of insects on summits, practically no sign of fauna. A few hymenoptera taken on way up, but day too hot & climb too arduous to permit any real hunting for same. Flora very meagre, [[underlined]] Sedum rhodiola [[/underlined]] seen between Caher & Carntual at about 3,000 ft. at head of gully. No sign of [[underlined]] Juncus trifidus [[/underlined]] on summit, though plenty of likely rocks for it on ridge from Caher to summit.
