I have put the following in your box, as they may be useful for reference.
Sph {[[insertion]] pellucidus [[/insertion]] piliferons [[female symbol]] after hibern. {[[insertion]] divisus [[/insertion]] [[underlined]] similis [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] quite freshly out.
Note the long white hairs of head, mesonotum & scape of antenna of the first, the effaced frontal angles, usually distinct in [[underlined]] divisus [[/underlined]], but very variable in development in this. The head of pilifrons is wider & the temples very different.
Vertex of Head ^ [[insertion]] from [[/insertion]] above of pellucidus [[image - vertex of an insect's head]]
Vertex of Head above of [[underlined]] divisus [[/underlined]] [[image - vertex of an insect's head]] [[insertion]] diagrams from memory. [[/insertion]]
The difference in the head is unfailing. Saunders named many big [[underlined]] divisus [[/underlined]] as [[underlined]] pellucidus [[/underlined]].
S. puncticeps [[male symbol]] small melanic, Bedford.
" [[ditto for: [[male symbol]] ]] red-bodied Dorset
[[female symbol]] no special loc.
S. fasciatus (affinis) [[male symbol]] showing small genitalia. Bedford.
miniatus (dimidiatus) [[male symbol]] showing large development of lacunia of genitalia
Bedford specimen.
miniatus [[female symbol]] German. Meyer's coll. Meyer considered [[underlined]] miniatus [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] dimidiatus [[/underlined]] distinct, but Bluthgen examined V. Hagen's actual types & considered them identical. ([[underlined]] miniatus [[/underlined]] is prior name in von Hag. so is [[underlined]] fasciatus [[/underlined]] v. Hag. prior to [[underlined]] affinis [[/underlined]], which is a synonym)

Transcription Notes:
Adjusted the annotation of underlined text and the pre-printed address at the letterhead, to make it consistent with other transcriptions. Also changed the male/female symbols to read "[[male/female symbol]]", as is done in other transcriptions of this series. Finally, replaced a few [[?]]'s and corrected a few taxonomic names. -@mnathan Reviewed. Agreed with [[showing?]] so took out of brackets. Looks good to complete to me. -@siobhanleachman
