26th July 1934. Misty rain from W all morning, after a wet night. Everything very damp! Some fine spells in afternoon but "seedy" all night & day & did not collect.
Cleared off arrears. [[underlined]] Lasius niger [[/underlined]] winged [[2 male symbols]], [[2 female symbols]], & [[2 virgin female symbols]] taken from nest on hillside above "the harbour", 1 mile W. of Darrynane.
[[underlined]] Attractodes [[/underlined]] - 1 [[female symbol]] behind dunes in evening! [[underlined]] Blacus ruficornis [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] in hotel, on window.

27th July 1934. After another wet night, a fine morning, till about 1.30 PM. Then misty rain as before all afternoon. Spent morning about the hotel or along edge of scrub (O'Connell's), behind the dunes, in marsh, Darrynane, Co. SK. In the afternoon walked by path through Lord Adare's to The Harbour where ^ [[insertion]] & on the way there is [[/insertion]] much nice ground & plenty of [[underlined]] Geomalacus maculosus [[/underlined]] out in the rain, "feeding" on the lichen covered rocks, also some fine plants of [[underlined]] Juniperus nana [[/underlined]], as well as several huge patches of very old [[underlined]] Cotoneaster [[/underlined]] which look to me just as old and mature as the [[underlined]] Juniper [[/underlined]] & the [[underlined]] Arbutus [[/underlined]], a few of which trees & [[underlined]] [[Simethis?]] [[/underlined]] (now in fruit) are also growing there.

[[underlined]] Bombus lapidarius [[/underlined]] a fresh [[female symbol]] ^ [[insertion]] 1 gathering pollen [[/insertion]] at poppies in garden & [[2 virgin female symbols]] in marsh.
[[underlined]] B. agrorum [[/underlined]] a fresh [[female symbol]] at poppies, also laden with pollen, in garden & [[2 virgin female symbols]] elsewhere
[[underlined]] B. derhamellus [[/underlined]] 1 fresh [[male symbol]] on edge of dunes just below hotel & outside marsh.
