30th July 1934. Opened with terrific rain at 6 AM. with gale from SE-S. Left Darrynane at 9.20 AM. reached Killarney at 11.25, spent a few minutes with E. F. Bullock, then drove on to Headley Bridge where had lunch in same quarry as on 28th June, but terrific wind & misty rain spoiled collecting, though hot sun at times. Left there about 1.20 & drove on to Newcastle West, where had to stop for broken front spring of car to be repaired. Left Newcastle West at 4.20 & reached Limerick
