31st. March 1935. A poor day, very little sun after noon until too late in afternoon, with a strong chilly W.-NW wind, after two quite dull days. Went with C.W. Allen to Shankill, Co. DU., & worked inland along Lee-banks, [[insertion]] = 1 [[/insertion]] towards Kilmichael, then to railway [[insertion]] = 2 [[/insertion]] at Bride's Glen, where stayed an hour, then to Loughlinstown Commons [[insertion]] = 3 [[/insertion]], then back to railway & up Kilternan road, S. across old lane [[insertion]] = 4 [[/insertion]], & back to Shankill.

3rd April 1935. A bitter cold day, NE-NW winds, causing jam & no sun after 10 AM till late in afternoon.
Rode to Glenasmole, Co. DU., arriving at 10 AM & stayed till about 2.30 P.M. but nothing out, save a few [[underlined]] Bombi [[/underlined]].
[[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]] a fair number of [[2 female symbols]] some at Salix, but most searching for nesting sites. [[underlined]] B. jonellus [[/underlined]] 2 [[2 female symbols]] seen.
[[underlined]] Pimpla maculator [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] beaten out of ivy, very red & with pale stigma [[insertion]] (not kept). [[/insertion]]
Campoplegic (? Angitia or Anilasta) 1 [[female symbol]], beaten with last.
[[underlined]] Pezomachus "rufulus" [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] beaten out of gorse!

Chiff-chaffs very common: no butterflies seen all day. Explored all the coombes on E. side of glen between lower & upper dams. One patch of snow still in gully on N.W. slope of Kippure.

7th April 1935. Heavy showers in morning after a wet night: milder & much hot sun later: strong W. wind. [On duty in museum in aft.]. Rode to Furry Glen, Phoenix Park, DU., arriving 12.30, left there 1.30.
[[underlined]] Bombus terrestris [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]]. [[underlined]] B. lucorum [[/underlined]] 1 dead [[female symbol]] under blackthorn.
[[underlined]] B. lapidarius [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] at flowers of blackthorn. [[underlined]] B. muscorum [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] at [[underlined]] Taraxacum [[/underlined]].
