14th April 1935. [[insertion]] - 1st day of Summer Time 1935! [[/insertion]] A perfect morning after a fine night, but heavy rain all over S. Dublin area, caused by very cold E. wind springing up about noon: all blue sky to north of Dublin, but rain not clearing off till about 4 PM. then fine & sunny, followed by another perfect night.
Rode to Leixlip via Greenhills, Clondalkin & Lucan, & then N. to Royal Canal, spent an hour in old quarry S. of Railway & 1/4 mile E of Rye Water (from which the stone to build Broadstone Station, &c., was quarried, then back along canal to Clonsilla, which left about 2.30 PM. & home via Castleknock & Ph. Park. Heavy rain & bitterly cold in the Park; heavy rain & warm from Kilmainham home, where arrived somewhat damp.
Only hymenoptera seen all day were: -
[[underlined]] Andrena nigroaenea [[/underlined]] [[2 male symbols]] on [[underlined]] Taraxacum [[/underlined]] by road at Greenhills, Co. DU. at 10.30 AM. Four taken for Zimmerman
[[underlined]] Bombus terrestris [[/underlined]] 2 [[2 female symbols]] seen at quarry near Leixlip, Co. KD.
Proctotrypid [[female symbol]] beaten out of dense ivy in quarry where also saw woodlice [[underlined]] Platyarthrus [[/underlined]] hoffmannseggii (in nests of [[underlined]] M. ruginodis [[/underlined]] !) & [[underlined]] Trichoniscus rosens [[/underlined]] (abundant)
[On 14/4/35 ^ [[insertion]] E O'Mahony [[/insertion]] took [[underlined]] Blenocampa tenuicornis [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]] & [[underlined]] Dacnusa areolaris [[/underlined]] [[female symbol]] ]

18th April (Thursday) 1935. A dull day, with E. wind in Dublin & S.W. cloud drift above, hence more or less of a constant "drip" at afternoon.
Rode, in afternoon, to Slade of Saggart, Co. DU., where beat Conifers, Blackthorn, &c., & tried sweeping.
[[underlined]] Bombus lucorum [[/underlined]] several [[2 female symbols]] & [[underlined]] B. lapidarius [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] at Saggart.
[[underlined]] Dolerus aeneus [[/underlined]] 4 [[2 female symbols]] beaten, 3 from Silver Fir, 1 from Blackthorn.
[[underlined]] Pimpla examinator [[/underlined]] 2, small, dark [[2 female symbols]] beaten from Silver Fir.
[[underlined]] P. maculator [[/underlined]] [[2 female symbols]] out of fir. [[underlined]] P. pomorum [[/underlined]] 2 [[2 female symbols]] out of Silver Fir.
[[insertion]] [[underlined]] Mevesia arguta [[/underlined]] Wsm. [[/insertion]] [[underlined]] Dicaelotus [[/underlined]] ? [[curly bracket enclosing previous 2 taxa]] 1 [[female symbol]] of each {beaten out of Silver Fir.
[[underlined]] Hemiteles [[/underlined]] ? - 1 [[female symbol]], with long terebra, beaten out of Silver Fir.
[[underlined]] Apanteles [[/underlined]] - 1 [[male symbol]] out of fir.
[[underlined]] Aphidius infulatus [[/underlined]] 1 [[female symbol]] out of fir.
Also a few bugs, &c., & some [[underlined]] Trichoptera [[/underlined]] (given to Allen).

19th April 1935. Good Friday. A showery day & little sun till late afternoon, owing to E & SW winds meeting over hills & forming the usual jam: heavy rain in Dublin, only one shower at Ballyward in aft.
Rode with Palmer to Athdown (Upper Liffey) Co. WI. & home via Ballylow & Ballydonnell Brooks, Ballysmuttan, Ballyward & over Golden Hill. Everything backward
