[[underlined]] GRAIGNAMANAGH TRIP. [[/underlined]]
14th [[arrow pointing to insertion at top of previous page]] May 1935. Left Kingsbridge by 9.30 AM train: arrived Bagenalstown at 11.40: rode to Graiguenamanagh, via Borris bridge & then down "the line" (a towing-path, now disused!) to Graignamanagh, where arrived about 5 P.M. [[underlined]] All collecting done in Co. Carlow. [[/underlined]]
An all sunny day, the 11th in succession, with fierce & very cold NE-E wind: too dry & windy for small insects & only [[2 male symbols]] of [[underlined]] Andrena [[/underlined]] numerous. Tried collecting at various sheltered parts of road, where [[2 male symbols]] of [[underlined]] Andrena jacobi [[/underlined]] & [[underlined]] A. nigroaenea [[/underlined]] (quite fresh) swarmed; but pactically nothing else seen: next tried by river scarp below Borris bridge, where also many [[male symbol]] Andrena & here took 1 [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] Halictus lativentris [[/underlined]] on [[underlined]] Bellis [[/underlined]]. but beautiful marsh yielded practically nothing & the same to be said of many places along river lower down: only in Borris demesne, where Dinin R. joins Barrow were insects at all numerous & here took almost all the icks &c collected during day, also 1st [[underlined]] Crabro [[/underlined]] of season ([[underlined]] C. vagus [[/underlined]] [[male symbol]]).
