Very fine, after a dull morning & wet night, till a thunderstorm arrived at 3.30 to put an end to collecting.
Slade of Saggart, Co. DU. with A.M. Gwynn.
Beat White Beam tree ([[underlined]] Sorbus porrigens fide [[/underlined]] R. L. Praeger!) which grows on rocky scarp above road on E. side of slade, but no hymenoptera seen except Honey Bees, though many flies. On slope between rocks & above road at this place swept one large [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] Dacnusa areolaris [[/underlined]] & a [[male symbol]] [[underlined]] Dacnusa [[/underlined]] of a species near [[underlined]] D. talaris [[/underlined]], which Gwynn took a [[female symbol]] [[underlined]] "Microbracon" [[/underlined]] [[insertion]] = Bracon [[/insertion]] with sculptured 2nd segment, abdomen yellow at sides, & very short terebra: superficially like [[underlined]] terebella [[/underlined]] except for quite clear wings & sculptured 2nd segment.
All the rest taken in wood along old road on W. side of the slade, mostly by sweeping, some by beating trees.
No aculeates seen except [[underlined]] Dryinids [[/underlined]] !
Antaeon? 2 large black [[2 male symbols]]
[[underlined]] Aphelopus melaleucus [[/underlined]] 2 [[2 female symbols]].
[[underlined]] Tenthredopsis nassata [[/underlined]] 2 [[2 female symbols]] beaten out of beech, red abd.
